The Way I Play SAHM (Stay At Home Mom)
Designed by Lori Gentile

The heart shape on this lovely scrapbook page involves cutting narrow strips from colorfully coordinated patterned papers and then arranging them within the confines of a double row of straight-stitches. Narrow strips were used again to add the journaling and charmingly used as an effective layout frame.

Instructions

  1. Cut one 8⅞" square from floral side of Mango Cherries patterned paper. Use Black pen to outline inside perimeter of Cloudy die cut, then center and adhere Mango Cherries square.
  2. Trace heart onto tracing paper, then transfer onto multicolor striped side of Sweet Apple patterned paper. Cut out. Horizontally cut Sweet Apple heart into ¼"-wide strips. Use Van Dyke ink pad to antique around outside edges of all cut strips. Lightly trace heart shape onto left side of Mango Cherries square as shown. Arrange heart strips inside heart perimeter, removing every other strip. Once pleased with the arrangement, adhere into place. Machine straight-stitch two rows around heart shape and one row in between each heart strip as shown. Machine stitch a combination of a straight and zigzag-stitches around inside edges of Mango Cherries square.
  3. To create title, use Thickers (“SAHM” used here) and Tiny Cardstock Alphabet Stickers underneath (“stay at home mom” used here) centered above stitched heart.
  4. Adhere three photographs, slightly overlapping, along the left side of the heart, two buttons in the upper left corner of the top photo, two buttons in the upper right side of the layout, and the aqua bird and three buttons centered onto bottom of layout as shown.
  5. Computer print journaling onto White cardstock. Cut into four 9" to 9¼" strips. Use Van Dyke Brown ink pad to antique around outside edges. Adhere around outside edges of Mango Cherries square as shown.
