Are YOU Addicted to Scrapbooking?

(A humorous peek inside the world of the seriously afflicted scrapbook addict.) By Laura Solomon

Diet Coke

How can you tell if you’re truly addicted to scrapbooking? Determining whether you are addicted is an easy task. Much like any other addiction, there are telltale signs that scrappers should know before deciding on the correct method of treatment (See section on Treatment).

To begin the test you must answer truthfully, checking off the appropriate boxes. We suggest you use a fine-tip colored marker or a small stamp and coordinating ink to complement the patterned paper. Feel free at any time during the test to stop and stitch, collage, distress, antique, or embellish the page as the need arises. That way, at the end of the test you’ll have a completed page to slip into your scrapbook.

No
12. Have you had a dog door installed in your home so you no longer have to take time away from scrapping to walk him/her?

No
If you’ve answered Yes to three or fewer questions you are in the early stages of addiction. We suggest you see the Treatment section for assistance.

If you’ve answered Yes to four or more questions, there is no need to read the section on Treatment …simply have fun and SCRAP ON!
The Treatment

Unfortunately, there isn’t a cure for this creative addiction. If you are at all concerned, the best thing to do is ask your fellow scrappers at the next scrapbook class, crop or cruise for advice and/or support if desired. Or help us help you! We are very interested in seeing any layouts you make describing your passionate affliction and would like to support your scrapbooking habit by offering our readers a special opportunity to share your work with others. It's really very easy. Simply create a layout using our test (in whole or in part) as part of your design. E-mail the image to editors@scrapbookingandbeyondmag.com with the subject line: Addicted to Scrapbooking Test. If your layout is selected for publication, we will send you $50.00!
