CaLm
Designed by Lisa Sanders
Creating a page that maintains balance and simplicity can often be a challenge, especially when the paper is colorful and busy. Designer Lisa Sanders selected oversized chipboard letters and other large color-coordinated embellishments that match the background paper. The scattering of white buttons adds sparkle, while the touch of blue in the photo helps to cool the tone of this very colorful page.
Instructions
1. Use the paintbrush to paint the chipboard letters yellow and the scroll lime green. Set aside and allow to dry.
2.
Load printer with the matte photo paper and use the photo manipulation software to increase both the color saturation and the contrast of your digital photo, then add a photo edge to the image and print out sized to measure 5" x 7". Mat the image onto light green cardstock with a 3⁄16" border and set aside.
3. Cut one tag shape each from the scraps of bright pink cardstock to measure 2" x 3-1/4" and 2" x 3-7⁄8", respectively. Punch a 1/4"-dia. hole centered 1/2" in from the tapered end of each tag, then adhere a hole reinforcement centered around each hole. Use a small piece of sponge and black ink to antique the tags, then, with the hole at the bottom, adhere the shorter tag vertically aligned with the top left corner of the sheet of Orange Slice paper. With the hole to the right, adhere the second pink tag horizontally aligned with the right side of the first tag and the top edge of the page.
4. Use a small piece of sponge and black to ink the edges of the painted shapes set aside in Step 1. Referring to the project photo, slide the scroll onto the top left corner of the matted photo set aside in Step 2, then adhere the composition onto the page centered 1-1/2" down from the top and overlapping the pink tags. Adhere the painted letters in the correct order to spell out “caLm” beginning 1" in from the left side and 1/2" down from the photo.
5. Adhere one button onto each silk flower, then adhere one flower near the bottom right corner of the photo and the remaining flower near the bottom left corner of the page as shown in the project photo. Adhere the remaining buttons onto the pink tags in the top left corner, referring to project photo for suggested placement.
6. Cut one 2" x 2-1⁄8" tag shape each from the three scraps of orange cardstock. Punch a 1/4"-dia. hole centered 1/2" in from the tapered end of each tag, adhere a hole reinforcement centered around each hole, then use black ink to antique the tags. With the holes at the top, adhere the tags vertically and with their sides abutting aligned along the bottom right corner of the page.
7. Load printer with the sheet of white cardstock and, using coordinating green and orange fonts of choice, journal “It’s the ‘little moments’ that make life BIG.” centered into a 1/2" x 5-1/2" text box with about 3⁄8" margins at each end. Print out and cut a same size strip around the journaling, then tear 1/4" away along each short end. Use black ink to antique the journaled strip, then adhere angled slightly across the three tags at the bottom right corner of the page as shown in the project photo. Use the black pen to complete the text box as desired.
